On Sunday March 4, 2007, John Wesley celebrated marked the start of an expansion project with a groundbreaking ceremony.  The ceremony had many attendees such as members and guests which included the Presiding Elder, Earle E. Johnson and the mayor of Southfield Michigan, Brenda Lawrence.

Construction will begin in early end and is expected to end in August.
